F. Javier Gutierrez's RINGS, the third installment of THE RING franchise, was all set to scare up theaters next month, however Variety has learned that Paramount has pushed back the film's release to next year.
A new release date hasn't been announced yet, but it will likely be in theaters in the first quarter of 2016, and will no longer open against the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie-led drama BY THE SEA, the Chilean miners drama The 33 and the Jessie Nelson-directed Christmas-themed rom-com LOVE THE COOPERS.
RINGS takes place 13 years after the events from the first movie, and Gutierrez directed from a script by Jacob Aaron Estes, Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka. The threequel/reboot stars The Big Bang Theory's Johnny Galecki, as "a handsome, pleasure-seeking professor who mentors and helps boyfriend and girlfriend duo Holt and Julia," played by newcomers Matilda Lutz (THE FIFTH WHEEL) and Alex Roe (THE 5TH WAVE). Do you think RINGS will be an improvement over the previous entry in the series, or will it be just be another disappointing horror movie sequel?
