Paramount’s THE RING reboot—now titled RINGS(ew)—is starting to do the all important rounds of casting, and it appears to have now found its leading lady in Italian actress Matilda Lutz (pictured), reports The Wrap. Serving as the next chapter in the franchise, RINGS will be directed by F. Javier Gutierrez as it will once again feature Samara and a deadly VHS tape. That's as far as the details go on this one, unfortunately.
Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka and Jacon Aaron Estes all had a hand in writing the script, which is based on the 1991 novel by Koji Suzuki. Hopefully they've strayed away from the source material on this one because I feel like Gore Verbinski all ready nailed it with the remake. I'd like to see a new angle on the story, one that will give us a reason to go down the reboot path with yet another horror franchise. What do you guys think?
Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are producing.
