UPDATE (1/13/23):
Ezra Miller has officially had their plea deal accepted, with the judge presiding over the case informing the actor will pay a $500 fine, face an 80-90 suspended sentence and and one year of probation.
Count 1 and 2 of burglary and petit larceny have been dismissed. The judge told Ezra Miller, “You’ll be on administrative probation for one year for the unlawful trespass that you’ll be pleading guilty to. If you complete that probation successfully and the probation is closed and discharged, count 1 will remain dismissed…However, if there’s a violation of probation that was filed that a court found probable cause for, the state could refile the count 1 burglary.”
In a statement, Miller’s lawyer stated, “Ezra would like to thank the court and the community for their trust and patience throughout this process, and would once again like to acknowledge the love and support they have received from their family and friends, who continue to be a vital presence in their ongoing mental health.”
ORIGINAL ARTICLE:
Ezra Miller has filed a plea deal stemming from trespassing and burglary charges last year. In October, Ezra Miller pleaded not guilty to the charges. Miller’s guilty plea would see the actor avoiding trial and theoretically ending the drama surrounding them–at least in this case.
As per the notice of plea agreement obtained by Deadline, under the count 3 of unlawful trespass, Ezra Miller will have to pay a fine of $692, which includes both the fine and surcharges. Miller will also see an 89-90-day suspended sentence and one year of probation. The actor could have faced 26 years in prison. Miller signed the agreement on December 23rd.
The incident, which occurred in Vermont last year, allegedly found Ezra Miller breaking into a home and stealing alcohol, the ingredients of which were, as he put it, part of “a recipe for their mother.” At the time, it was determined that due to “surveillance videos and statements, probable cause was found to charge Ezra M. Miller with the offense of felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling.”
Ezra Miller is, of course, quite familiar with controversy and run-ins with the law, with incidents stemming back to a 2011, when they were found to be in possession of marijuana while filming The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Most of Ezra Miller’s incidents stem from this decade. In 2020, Miller was seen in a video recorded in Iceland strangling a woman. Last year was undoubtedly their most controversial, with multiple arrests in Hawaii, allegations of grooming a young girl and more.
Despite all of their troubles over the years, it does seem probable that Ezra Miller will continue to play Barry Allen aka The Flash for DC. This would be especially surprising considering the number of projects that have been scrapped or reworked since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over their roles at the studio. The Flash comes to theaters on June 16th.
