Severin Films has announced that they’re bringing the obscure 1983 horror film Eyes of Fire to Blu-ray on December 7. The film will be part of the 20 film set “All the Haunts Be Ours“, which can be pre-ordered at THIS LINK (and is limited to 4000 units), and will also be available as a stand-alone release. You can pick a copy of the region free Eyes of Fire disc by itself at THIS LINK.
This movie is so obscure and rare, I don’t think I had even heard of it before Severin’s announcement. Still, it looks like plenty of horror fans are excited to see this one get the Blu-ray treatment.
Written and directed by Avery Crounse, Eyes of Fire is set in 1750 and has the following synopsis:
A rogue 18th century preacher and his followers make their way downriver to establish a new settlement beyond the western frontier and encounter a forest enchanted by strange spirits that will bring an apocalyptic madness upon them.
Dennis Lipscomb, Guy Boyd, Rebecca Stanley, Karlene Crockett, Fran Ryan, Rob Paulsen, and Kerry Sherman star, with narration by Sally Klein.
Severin’s Blu-ray will include the following features:
4K restoration
Audio Commentary With Colin Dickey, Author of “Ghostland: An American History In Haunted Places”
The Secret Is In The Trees — “Nightmare USA” Author Stephen Thrower Interviews Avery Crounse (29 mins)
Crying Blue Sky [Alternate Longer Cut restored in 2K from Director’s personal 35mm answer print]

Eyes of Fire sounds interesting, and I’m glad Severin has put this release together for it.
