After rescuing the kidnapped son of an international crime lord in Bangladesh, Tyler Rake’s next mission will take him someone a little more frigid. Chris Hemsworth took to Instagram to post a first look image of Extraction 2, the upcoming sequel to Sam Hargrave’s action-packed Netflix movie.

Extraction quickly became one of Netflix’s most popular films of all time, so it’s easy to see just how quickly they got the ball rolling on a sequel. As you can see in the above image, Extraction 2 is moving to a somewhat colder climate as Tyler Rake is seen clinging to the side of a train. Chris Hemsworth teased back in October that the sequel will be “bigger and badder” than the first film, but what else is he going to say? That said, I’m excited to see what Chris Hemsworth and Sam Hargrave are going to cook up with Extraction 2. Plot details about the sequel are naturally being kept under wraps, but we can surely expect the film to deliver some hard-hitting action and outrageous stunts.

Extraction screenwriter Joe Russo, who returned to pen the sequel as well, has previously teased that he’d like to develop a whole Extraction franchise full of sequels and spinoffs. “I’m still not gonna commit because I think it’s more exciting to surprise people,” Russo said, “but I will say this: we are working at building out a universe of films that could potentially explore some of the other characters from the first movie and some new characters, and see more historical interaction between the characters. So if you’re interested in David Harbour’s character, you just may get to see him in a future Extraction movie.Extraction 2 doesn’t have an official release date just yet, but we’ll let you know when that changes.
