Writer/director B. Harrison Smith's film DEATH HOUSE has had a bumpy ride on the way to distribution, having been delayed multiple times. At one point it was supposed to get a 100 screen theatrical release, and at another time we thought it was going to be on Netflix six months ago. Now it looks like it's finally going to be making its way out into the world, for real this time.
Cleopatra Entertainment is set to release DEATH HOUSE on VOD on November 6th. A DVD release will follow on December 11th, and you can pre-order the disc on Amazon.
Based on a story crafted by the late Gunnar Hansen, who played Leatherface in the original THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE, DEATH HOUSE follows
two federal agents who must fight their way through nine levels of Hell inside a secret prison known as the Death House. A facility-wide prison break turns their flight into a tour of horrors as they push toward the ultimate evil housed in the lowest depths of the earth.
The cast includes Cortney Palm, Cody Longo, Kane Hodder, Michael Berryman, Barbara Crampton, Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Tony Todd, Dee Wallace, Felissa Rose, Vernon Wells, R.A. Mihailoff, Camille Keaton, Adrienne Barbeau, Tony Moran, Sean Whalen, Tiffany Shepis, Richard Speight Jr., Debbie Rochon, Brinke Stevens, Lloyd Kaufman, Bill Oberst Jr., Beverly Randolph, Larry Zerner, Sarah French, and Elissa Dowling.
DEATH HOUSE has been getting hyped as "THE EXPENDABLES of horror" all along, and the poster for the upcoming release even features a logo and font similar to those on the marketing materials for THE EXPENDABLES.
