Expendables 4: Sylvester Stallone hosts a BTS bar brawl video

UPDATE 2: Sylvester Stallone always tells us to “keep punching,” and today he’s going to show us why. The Italian Stallion took to Instagram today to post a behind-the-scenes look at a barroom brawl involving Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas for Expendables 4.

While leading us on a tour of the elaborate set, Stallone explains the intricacies of creating a realistic and hard-hitting fight sequence for the movie. Stallone then explains that he wants the fights to look and feel real, which means adding a bit of clumsiness and confusion to the choreography. Don’t get me wrong, Stallone still wants these fights to look like a beautiful ballet of brute force, though perhaps in a more grounded manner.

In addition to Stallone’s walking tour of the set, the Rocky and Rambo actor also takes time to celebrate the hardworking cast and crew of the film. Keep punching, Stallone, you’re still the champ in our book.

UPDATE: Sylvester Stallone has taken to Instagram once again to give us even more Expendables 4 goodies. After revealing an image of himself and his co-star Jason Statham on set a few days ago, Stallone dropped some more behind the scenes fun featuring the actor revving up a motorcycle while smoking a cigar, an image of himself and Statham looking over script pages, and a photo of Dolph Lundgren sharing a laugh with his longtime friend while working on the fourth installment of the popular action franchise. You can check out the new behind-the-scenes moments below!

It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like Expendables 4 (if that’s what they wind up calling it) is officially filming in London, with Sylvester Stallone posting pics on his Instagram of him and co-star Jason Statham at work and at play. Check them out below!

The fourth Expendables movie is being directed by Act of Valor’s Scott Waugh. It features the return of Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, and Sylvester Stallone as Lee Christmas, Gunner Jensen, Toll Road, and Barney Ross, respectively. New additions to the cast include Megan Fox, Andy Garcia, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Tony Jaa.

Not much is known about the plot, but Stallone himself has noted that this sequel is set to focus primarily on Statham’s character, Lee Christmas. He was even calling it a spin-off for a while, which is an interesting direction for the franchise. It feels like any of the ultra-badass cast could carry their own spin-offs if given a chance, so maybe this will pave the way to that happening.

The Expendables series has proven to be extremely successful for Stallone and Millennium Films, with the four installments grossing a cumulative $530 million worldwide. And that’s not even considering how well the movies probably did on Blu-ray/DVD/ Streaming. They’ve become staples of any action junkie’s collection, so I’m happy to see the gang coming back together. Hopefully, Terry Crews and other former cast-mates, such as Wesley Snipes, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Antonio Banderas, and Jet Li, will pop up for cameos. But, you never really know, do you?

The Expendables 4 doesn’t yet have a release date, but I’d expect it sometime in late 2022 or maybe early 2023.
