Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) wasn't the only Avenger to take part in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING, as good ol' Captain America (Chris Evans) put in an appearance as well thanks to several cheesy Public Service Announcements. Although the film has only just opened in theaters, director Jon Watts is already talking about SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING's as-yet-announced Blu-ray release, and what special features we may find on it.
Jon Watts recently told Collider that one of those features will be at least ten of those Captain America PSA's, saying that they "put it together like it was the actual DVD that they show at the school, so it just is clicking from one to another to another." As Jon Watts only had Chris Evans for a certain amount of time, the easiest way to knock off the PSA's was to have Evans read them off a teleprompter.
I just wrote pages of them ’cause I had Chris Evans for however amount of time, so I just feed him … I think we had a teleprompter actually, so he was just … It was like Captain America just showed up and had to do this stuff for the government… He’s just reading it off the scrolling thing and being like, "Are you sure you want me to say this?"
It's still early days yet in regards to the SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING sequel, but a recent THR feature about Sony's partnership with Marvel revealed that the studio will get a to-be-determined Marvel character for the upcoming sequel. Sources say that it won't be Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) this time around, but other than that, your guess is as good as mine. The report didn't specify whether Spidey's new co-star would be an existing MCU character or one who has yet to appear, but we may want to keep an eye on who Spider-Man clicks with in the upcoming AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR.
SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING is now playing in theaters, so check out reviews from our own Chris Bumbray and Eric Walkuski and be sure to let us know what YOU thought of the film!
