BLACK PANTHER is going to be a pretty key piece of the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward… that is, if you believe the hype of importance Kevin Feige is laying out there for the superhero’s introduction in Phase Three and beyond.
Speaking to Empire, Feige is rather blunt in letting you know how much this film will matter in the grand scheme of things.
This one is important. Not only do you get an unbelievable lead character, but you also get all of Wakanda which is a whole new setting and culture to explore.
Now that all sounds well and good in getting people to pay attention to this character they might not know too much about at this point, but it’s the connective tissue to the rest of Marvel’s films and its position as the last film before the studio embarks on their two-part AVENGERS sequels that is sure to get fans, both casual and hardcore, to take notice.
It’s a big geo-political action adventure that focuses on the family and royal struggle of T’Challa in Wakanda, and what is means to be a king. T’Challa’s story is very important to us as it links to the next Avengers films, which is why we brought it forward.
There’s the Marvel model at work. You make sure every film has some piece of the larger puzzle that audiences cannot bear to miss, and you’ve got them for every movie you make. See… It’s not rocket science, other studios. But you do need to have a solid plan to make it work. Please start taking notes and using them.
BLACK PANTHER roars into theaters on February 16, 2018.
