Exclusive: WandaVision director Matt Shakman on Marvel Studios’ first sitcom

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

WandaVision is much different than any other project from Marvel Studios. Paying homage to classic sitcoms of the last seventy years, the Disney+ series takes a unique approach to telling a comic book story about Avengers heroes Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision  (Paul Bettany). As the first entry into Phase Four of the MCU, a lot is riding on WandaVision. No one knows that better than director Matt Shakman.

A veteran of appearing on sitcoms (he acted on series like Growing Pains and the Saved By The Bell precursor Good Morning, Miss Bliss) to directing shows like Game of Thrones and The Boys, we got the chance to sit down with Shakman to discuss WandaVision. While he couldn't tell us if any other familiar Marvel superheroes would show up on this series, he did share which other hero he would love to direct, the challenge of filming all of these different sitcoms and more.

Check out our interview with Shakman. WandaVision premieres January 15th on Disney+.
