Let’s be honest – it’s been a while since we’ve had a decent hockey movie. MIRACLE was okay (I’m a sucker for Kurt Russell in a pair of plaid slacks) but you’d probably have to go back to SLAP SHOT for the last really good (and maybe only really good?) hockey movie. Well that’s where GOON comes in. Our Montreal brother Jay Baruchel recognized this void as well and co-wrote his own hockey movie and the movie will have its premiere this week at the Toronto Film Festival! We’re excited to premiere two new character posters for the film featuring stars Liev Schrieber and Seann William Scott.
In the film, Scott stars as a bruiser who’s reluctant to brawl until a hockey coach sees him and recruits him for his team (never mind he doesn’t even know how to skate). His one job? To stop legendary enforcer Ross “The Boss” Rhea (Schrieber).
Baruchel co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg (PINEAPPLE EXPRESS, SUPERBAD) and recruited an impressive cast that also includes Alison Pill, Nicholas Campbell, Kim Coates and Eugene Levy.
