This past weekend, the latest from Jon Stewart found its way to audiences. IRRESISTIBLE is a sharp, and charmingly funny take on modern-day politics, perhaps a bit more hopeful than watching the news. The film stars Steve Carell as a Democratic strategist attempting to make a star out of an everyman, one played by the great Chris Cooper. This witty comedy also features Rose Byrne, Mackenzie Davis, Will Sasso, and more, and it's currently available on most streaming services.
Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with the cast of the new film, and it was an especially enjoyable experience – this includes Jon Stewart from last week. First up we took some time to chat with the phenomenal Ms. Byrne. This amazing talent can do everything. Whether she's facing a creepy ghost in the INSIDIOUS franchise or dealing with lousy NEIGHBORS, she always shines. During our discussion, she talked about playing "ethically challenged" portrayals, yet she has the unbeatable talent of making even the cruelest characters wonderfully engaging. And she is simply fantastic here.
Next up, I sat down with both Chris Cooper and Mackenzie Davis. I've been lucky enough to interview Ms. Davis a few times, and she is always terrific. If you put her and Mr. Cooper together, it's just a joy. The two opened up about working with Jon Stewart and taking on this particularly relevant story. The two have clear chemistry, and they make for an impressive on-screen team. If you've yet to check it out, and you'd like a bit of hopefulness in your political features, you should check out IRRESISTIBLE available now on streaming. It's a good time for a laugh or two, and you can't beat the impressive cast.
