While we'll be seeing the return of two bumbling cops in this summer's 22 JUMP STREET, there's another ragtag law enforcement duo hitting the beat with LET’S BE COPS. The R-rated, high-concept action comedy features Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. (both from Fox's New Girl) as a pair of buddies who discover the power of the police uniform and end up getting into some serious shit as a result. Today, we have the exclusive premiere of the poster for the film, which has both Johnson and Wayans Jr. looking like the officers you wish you hadn't called.
That's what you get!:
Here's the synopsis:
It's the ultimate buddy cop movie except for one thing: they're not cops. When two struggling pals dress as police officers for a costume party, they become neighborhood sensations. But when these newly-minted "heroes" get tangled in a real life web of mobsters and dirty detectives, they must put their fake badges on the line.
I didn't expect much from this when I first heard of it, but after seeing that first red-band trailer I was sold. Johnson has been doing some solid work on indie fare like DRINKING BUDDIES and is set to square off with rampaging dino's in next summer's JURASSIC WORLD, while Wayans Jr. has thankfully avoided the parody flicks of late and seems to be making a move for the bigger slice of the pie. They both seem hungry for success, which I can respect, and their chemistry looks solid here. With any luck, this could end up being the dark horse comedy of the summer.
LET’S BE COPS hits theaters on August 13, 2014.
