Exclusive (Video): JoBlo Celebrates Poltergeist at the Haunted Oman House!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Halloween is just around the corner. And what better way to start it off with not only a celebration of the recent Blu Ray release of POLTERGEIST, but to do so in a real life haunted house? The Oman House has been featured on nearly every paranormal investigation series out there – including Ghost Adventures and Ghost Hunters – and it is the perfect place for a little October fun. Last week, a group of journalist gathered together to do a little ghost hunting, an even participate in a seance.

David Oman (co-writer and producer of HOUSE AT THE END OF THE DRIVE) has lived with things that bump in the night ever since his house was built only a few yards away from the infamous Tate-LaBianca murders. This terrible crime, which took place on the night of August 8th, 1969 created an iconic, real life monster in the form of Charles Manson who let his “family” do his evil deeds. The news sent shockwaves to a world already in turmoil, and seemingly left a lasting impression on the grounds where it took place.

While this is not my first experience at David’s home, this particular evening proved to be an interesting one. With one room on the bottom floor decorated to look like ‘Madison Bowen’s’ bedroom in the new film, there was plenty going on.  During our time at the home, a children’s keyboard kept going off randomly. And while oftentimes battery operated toys have some sort of setting reminding you it is turned on – say a beep every five minutes – this was far more random. And if you watched the Ghost Adventures episode – the 9th season premiere which I happened to make an appearance on – you are fully aware of the ‘Beetlejuice’ figurines that repeatedly fall.

Yet the real spooky stuff happened near the end of the evening. When my cameraman Ryan Cultrera and I stayed after the crowds left, we found that a little girl the paranormal investigators in attendance called “Gwendoline” was very talkative. Once we put together the footage, we discovered that a mysterious voice had been responding to us, right after the witching hour. There was no television playing, no radio, and definitely no little girl hanging out whispering into the microphone.

So check out our video coverage of the event and judge for yourself. And of course, a big thank you to David Oman, Fox Home Video and the very playful Gwendoline. Be sure to check out POLTERGEIST, currently available on home video and VOD.
