Exclusive Interview: Anne Hathaway on WeCrashed, Fyre Festival and more!

I genuinely love Anne Hathaway’s work, and when the opportunity to interview her came up due to the release of her new Apple TV+ limited series, WeCrashed, I was super excited. WeCrashed tells the true story of WeWork founder Adam Neumann (played by Jared Leto – who we interviewed yesterday) and his wife Rebekah, who’s played here by Hathaway. The series charts their rise and fall, with Rebekah known for her involvement with the company’s WeGrow program.

As it turns out, Hathaway has some friends in common with Rebekah Neumann, who decided to approach the role only after being assured that the series would not be a caricature, but instead empathetic to all involved. Hathaway explains all of this in our interview, which I start with a shout-out to her crazy underrated monster movie, Colossal (which, it turns out, is a personal favorite of hers). She also explained her love of the limited series format, how the lines between TV and film don’t really exist as they did just a few years ago, and even weighs in on the Netflix documentary Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened. It turns out this doc actually encouraged her to participate in WeCrashed in a roundabout way, which I thought was a cool tidbit.

Check out the interview above, which I thought was really cool (Hathaway is super nice), and you can catch WeCrashed when it premieres on Apple TV+ this Friday, March 18th.
