I'm way behind on the multi-headed shark attack series, which started with 2-HEADED SHARK ATTACK in 2012 and continued with 2015's 3-HEADED SHARK ATTACK and 2017's 5-HEADED SHARK ATTACK. I couldn't even tell you why the franchise leap-frogged over 4-HEADED SHARK ATTACK, unless it was just because they didn't want viewers to think it was a movie about a shark with a large forehead. Now I'm thinking of diving into this franchise, as the latest installment, 6-HEADED SHARK ATTACK, will be premiering on Syfy this weekend and director Mark Atkins has said that his approach to the film was to try to make something that would fuse the spirit of THOR: RAGNAROK with Sam Raimi's THE EVIL DEAD and the early works of Peter Jackson.
Scripted by Koichi Petetsky, 6-HEADED SHARK ATTACK isn't directly connected to its predecessors, it just happens to also be about a shark with multiple heads. The synopsis:
What is supposed to be a marriage boot camp on a remote island turns into the ultimate test for survival when a 6-headed shark starts attacking the beach. Trapped with minimal weapons they try to fight off the shark, but quickly discover that no one is safe in the water or on land.
The cast includes Brandon Auret, Chris Fisher, Meghan Oberholzer, Jonathan Pienaar, Thandi Sebe, Cord Newman, Naima Sebe, Tapiwa Musvosvi, Caitlin Harty, Nikita Faber, Wilco Wilkens, and Marie Cavanna.
6-HEADED SHARK ATTACK will be airing on Syfy this Saturday, August 18th, at 9pm ET, capping off a marathon of the multi-headed shark movies.
In anticipation of the film's premiere, we've gotten our hands on a batch of EXCLUSIVE images that show the title creature in action, doing its best to gobble up the human cast. You might notice that the shark is on land in some of these shots – Atkins says a suitable tagline for the film would be "Just when you thought it was safe to be out of the water.."
Atkins has experience directing shark movies; his previous credits include SAND SHARKS, PLANET OF THE SHARKS, and EMPIRE OF THE SHARKS.
