The animated Edgar Allan Poe anthology film EXTRAORDINARY TALES has been a nine year labor of love for director Raul Garcia, and it was finally released into the world, in select theatres and on VOD, last Friday.
EXTRAORDINARY TALES
offers heart-pounding takes on The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar, and The Masque of the Red Death. Each tale is given a unique animated look, inspired by sources as diverse as classic Hollywood black-and-white monster films, or the pulpy feel of EC Comics, and narrated by a stable of legendary genre directors and actors.
The genre legends who provide narration are Sir Christopher Lee, Julian Sands, Roger Corman, Bela Lugosi, and Guillermo del Toro.
As a special Halloween treat, today we have an exclusive clip from the film, from the segment based on "The Pit and the Pendulum", which has been brought to the screen with comic book style paneling and is narrated by the dulcet tones of del Toro. I love this guy's voice.
I haven't watched EXTRAORDINARY TALES in full yet myself, but it certainly seems to be a perfect movie to watch at this time of the year.
