It's impossible to deny the impact that composer Danny Elfman has had in the world of cinema and it's felt significantly in his work with director Tim Burton. Elfman has composed the music for all of Elfman's films, acting as his own John Williams to Steven Spielberg. The two have collaborated on a number of great (and not so great) films. Arguably the most memorable of those collaborations would be for 1990's EDWARD SCISSORHANDS starring Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder. The film was chock full of the imagery and themes that have run consistently through Burton's work and Elfman's score elevated the material far beyond what any other composer could've done for the film.
Today, we have an exclusive tribute to Elfman's score for Burton's heartfelt and inventive film, chopped together by our very own Kevin Blanchard (aka Droz) which is simply a joy to listen to. It's truly Elfman at his best and the score that essentially put him on the map to greatness. So, plug in your headphones or turn up your speakers and settle into ten minutes of Elfman's best.
Elfman's next projects include Tim Burton's BIG EYES and the mommy-porn-come-to-the-big-screen, FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.
