The sequel to 2015's JURASSIC WORLD is set to begin filming just under two years after that film hit theatres, with cameras expected to start rolling in March. Director Colin Trevorrow will not be returning to the helm, handing the project over to THE ORPHANAGE / A MONSTER CALLS director J.A. Bayona while remaining on board to co-write (with JURASSIC WORLD's Derek Connolly) and executive produce the film, but WORLD stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will be reprising the roles of Owen and Claire.
Our own Eric Walkuski got the chance to speak with Howard during the GOLD press junket yesterday, and during their conversation he asked her how the character Claire will be different in the JURASSIC WORLD sequel.
Howard's reply:
That's part of the story, that's part of the journey. She definitely went through a lot and is permanently changed because of that. But she is also who she is. Chris [Pratt] and I are already having a lot of fun with that. We're in that stage right now of figuring out the backstory and talking through all those beats, like everything that happened in between. That's always such a fun time. You're like, 'No, she did that?! No way, he couldn't have!' It's really, really fun, and then you step into the present moment and it becomes alive."
The actress is obviously doing her best to keep all details under wraps, but it is interesting to hear that she and Pratt are working together to figure out what their characters have been doing between movies.
When Howard and Pratt report to the set in a couple months, they'll be joined in the cast by Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, and Justice Smith.
JURASSIC WORLD 2 (not the official title) is scheduled to reach theatres on June 22, 2018, three years and ten days after JURASSIC WORLD.
