Dane DeHaan’s performance in THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES cements his status as one of Hollywood’s most promising young actors. Directed by Derek Cianfrance, the film follows Luke, a motorcycle stunt driver (Ryan Gosling) who turns to robbing banks in order to provide for his infant son. DeHaan stars as a teen who’s aching to know more about the father he never knew. Seemingly suffocated by small town life, he befriends the hard-partying AJ (Emory Cohen), only to learn that they are connected by a past tragedy.
DeHaan first caught the attention of audiences after appearing in the found footage flick CHRONICLE. Last year, he took on John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS and Stephen Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated bio-pic LINCOLN. In the coming months, the actor is set to star alongside Reese Witherspoon and Colin Forth in THE DEVIL’S KNOT, which chronicles the aftermath of the 1993 West Memphis Three murder case and he’ll also appear in John Krokidas’ beatnik drama KILL YOUR DARLINGS with Daniel Radcliffe and as if all that wasn’t enough…as Harry Osbourne in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN sequel!
THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES could potentially serve as Emory Cohen’s breakout film. Cohen appears in the film’s third act, as Avery’s troubled teen son AJ. Known for his small-screen work on the musical drama “Smash”, Cohen has mainly appeared in indie flicks like THE HUNGRY GHOSTS. He also gave gripping performances in Antonio Campos’ AFTERSCHOOL and Joshua Sanchez’s drama FOUR. He’ll soon star in Aron Gaudet’s BLUE POTATO.
