Francis Lawrence is a director who has created impressive images before with films such as CONSTANTINE and I AM LEGEND. With his latest, he brings a fresh vision to THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE. The world of Panem and its districts is clearly in capable hands as the filmmaker offers a very assured and exciting voice to the sequel.
When I sat down with Francis, there was a real sense of excitement. THE HUNGER GAMES is a franchise that he was happy to be a part of and it shows. During our conversation he talked about bringing his own voice into a previously imagined world. Not surprisingly the conversation turned to the film’s star, Jennifer Lawrence (not related) who once again proves to be an incredible anchor for the latest chapter. With Francis at the helm, I have high hopes for the next two films in this series. CATCHING FIRE opens this Friday at a theatre near you.
