While BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC reviews are embargoed until this evening, I was one of the lucky few who got an early peek at the film a few weeks ago thanks to being on the junket. While we, sadly, didn’t get a chance to speak with Alex Winter or Keanu Reeves, we did get some time with much of the supporting cast and creative crew.
First up was an actor I totally geeked out over, the great William Sadler, who, of course, plays Death. I grew up watching Sadler in movies like TRESPASS and DIE HARD 2: DIE HARDER, so I had myself a moment as the interview started.
Next up were the writers behind the Bill & Ted series, Ed Solomon & Chris Matheson, who seemed shocked by my admission that BILL & TED'S BOGUS JOURNEY is (by far) my favorite of the series, while they also told me something about that movie's closing credits (set against magazine covers charting Bill & Ted's rise to success) that blew my mind.
It turns out though that I'm not the only one who things BOGUS JOURNEY is way better than EXCELLENT ADVENTURE. It turns out Kid Cudi, who plays himself in the movie, was totally on my side in this regard, giving me what I think goes down as one of my favorite interviews ever. He's a really great guy.
Up next where two actresses I've long been a fan of, Erinn Hayes and Jayma Mays, who play the thoroughly modernized latest incarnations of Bill & Ted's medieval love interests. Check it out!
And, finally, I spoke to BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC's director, Dean Parisot, who talked about his involvement in the film, while also sharing bittersweet news about the long-gestating GALAXY QUEST 2.
BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC hits VOD and select theaters August 28th, and you can catch our review later today!
