Ex. Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Gary Dauberman Talk Annabelle Comes Home!

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

I’ve been a massive fan of THE CONJURING ever since the original film haunted audiences back in 2013. Much of that was the creative vision James Wan brought to it, but it also helps that the cast is downright perfect. And it all starts with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga who portray real life paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. The two are so perfect together, that when they were announced as part of the cast for ANNABELLE COMES HOME, I was already excited about the prospect. And considering the two haven’t been a part of the ANNABELLE series – part of The Conjuring Universe – it felt like the right time to bring them in for the second sequel. It was a terrific choice, helping make the latest ANNABELLE  – written and directed by Gary Dauberman – a wild ride. It’s a well crafted scare fest that manages to keep the creepy history of Annabelle full of quality spooks, with a bit of heart. And dare I say it, as much as I loved CREATION, this is the best Annabelle yet.

Having written about and spoken often about this particular franchise on a regular basis since the beginning, it was more than just a pleasure to return and talk to this wonderful cast. First up, I sat down with the incredible Ms. Farmiga and Mr. Wilson. These two are so damn fantastic together, and frankly that’s not just in the films themselves. Talking about these characters with the two is always an enlightening experience. This time around, the two discussed how their involvement in the film came to be, and just what it was like to continue to pay tribute to the real Ed and Lorraine. And while the two are only in the new film for around 15 to 20 minutes, what they add is quite impressive. They also opened up about how exciting it was to have the actual Warren home be a huge part of this particular chapter.

Next up we sat down with the three main stars. The incredibly talented Mckenna Grace takes on the role of Judy Warren – Ed and Lorraine’s daughter. And the charming Madison Iseman is her caring babysitter Mary Ellen, while Katie Sarife steps in to play Daniela, a friend to Mary Ellen, who also happens to be curious about the Warren’s home. The three started off saying what I already knew… JoBlo is a lot of fun to say. Next they opened up about taking on The Conjuring Universe, and what it was like to work together while dealing with a creepy doll. In fact, Mckenna told a particularly spooky tale about what happened to her on set. One of the most successful aspects of this sequel is the well chosen talent involved. This is a wonderful cast all around.

And finally, we sat down with one of the nicest and most talented fellas in this town. Making his feature film directorial debut, Gary Dauberman brings some of his big screen paranormal know how to this flick in the best of ways and keeps it creepy and fun. I asked him about the opportunity to hint at other investigations in the Warren case files, as well as finding a way to move the Annabelle story forward in a satisfying way – and this he has done. If you are a fan of this particular universe, or just THE CONJURING films themselves, you’re likely not going to want to miss this homecoming. ANNABELLE COMES HOME is currently playing at a theatre near you! Did you miss her?
