There is a storm brewing in the latest from writer/director Steven Knight entitled SERENITY. The new feature stars Matthew McConaughey as a lonely fisherman barely scrapping by, and Anne Hathaway as a woman from his past who can offer him a future… but at a very steep cost. However, not everything is what it seems in this modern day thriller. The film offers up an impressive cast that also includes Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou and Jason Clarke, as they delve through the unexpected mystery that unravels throughout.
We recently sat down with both McConaughey and Hathaway, as well as Mr. Knight. When it came to the genre bending landscape presented in the film, both actors spoke about how that aspect gave them something extra to work with. Whether it was McConaughey’s relationship with his on-screen son, or Hathaway’s take on the femme fetale. Yet there is much more to the story than just a simple modern noir, and filmmaker Steven Knight explained his approach, and how he came up with the idea behind the film. And just how important the right cast was to bring it to the screen.
If you are looking for a little something different, SERENITY sails into theatres this Friday.
