Ex. Jeff Tremaine, MGK, Douglas Booth & Iwan Rheon talk Crue and The Dirt!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Mötley Crüe was one of the wildest rock and roll bands in the 80’s. Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil and Mick Mars were the real deal when it came to unbridled arena rock. Reckless and ready to kick a bit of ass, they relished the excess of the music industry. And in the Netflix bio pic, THE DIRT, you’ll find an unapologetic and ferociously funny celebration of the Crüe. It is f*cking rock and roll! It’s rambunctious, rowdy and raw, and it rarely pulls any punches. With Iwan Rheon as Mars, Daniel Webber as Neil, Douglas Booth as SIxx and Machine Gun Kelly (aka Colson Baker) as Tommy Lee, this is the rock flick that your parents won’t want you to see… just because they were fans and perhaps a bit embarrassed by their past behaviour.

We recently sat down with Jeff Tremaine, the film’s director. With his work on JACKASS, BAD GRANDPA and with the documentary Mötley Crüe: The End, the dude knows this bands history. And what a history he presents us with. He discussed what brought him to the film, how he went about casting these fine fellas and bringing this insane musical journey to life. He also talked about finding the balance between creating a very funny, yet exceedingly dark tale. The band was ready to tell their story, warts and all, and Jeff was the perfect choice for it.

As for the band, watching MGK, Booth, Webber and Rheon embrace these characters was ridiculously enjoyable. While Webber wasn’t in attendance, it was terrific to talk about this iconic band to these fine fellas. The three discussed taking on the roles, taking on a little thing called “band camp” and the talented Machine Gun Kelly opened up about the influence of this incredible band. Thankfully, these fine actors have the chance to bring the music and the memories to life. Is there a doctor in the house? Paging Dr. Feelgood! This music will certainly make everything feel better than alright! Make sure you check out THE DIRT this Friday on Netflix… Turn this one up loud!
