It may not seem like it, but movies are still opening each week, but mostly hitting VOD of course. And not surprisingly, a big chunck of new content is available on Netflix. One such flick is the latest comedy from the fine folks at Happy Madison. In THE WRONG MISSY, a man makes the mistake of texting the wrong girl which leads to a crazed comedy of errors that actually includes a shark attack and a woman falling off a cliff, neither of which lead to actual disaster, just a lot of guffaws. The new comedy stars David Spade, Nick Swardson, Lauren Lapkus and Molly Sims, and the foursome embrace the insanity full on.
Generally this kind of interview is conducted in-person, but as Bob Dylan once said, the times, they are a changin'. Even still, it was an absolute pleasure checking in with this extremely funny group of actors. First up, I sat down on Zoom with both David Spade and Nick Swardson, and they couldn’t have been more fun to chat with. The two discussed the new feature, as well as promoting a film and finding the comedy in our current quarantine situation. And when it comes to the crazy, I had to ask about the shark sequence which is about as weird as it sounds.
Next up I spoke to the lovely Lauren Lapkus who really has the nuttiest role in the film. Clearly nothing like her extreme character, Lauren opened up about playing the main comedic character alongside Mr. Spade. Coming from an extensive background in improv, the actress fearlessly tackles playing the wrong Missy, and she is clearly having an absolute blast.
Finally, I had the opportunity to speak with the stunning Molly Sims. While the actress doesn’t have the crazy comedy bits to take on – as well, her role is a bit small comparatively – she appeared to enjoy the experience. Having worked with David before, it wasn’t terribly shocking that she shares an impressive chemistry with him. She was incredible to chat with, but frankly, so was everyone involved in this particular junket. And just like the rest of us, they are all stuck at home. So this Friday, if you want to watch these four in this wild comedic romp, check out THE WRONG MISSY on Netflix!
