What if Superman had turned out to be evil? That's the idea explored by director David Yarovesky's super-powered horror film BRIGHTBURN, which arrives in theatres this Thursday, May 23rd. With the film set to reach the screen in just four days, a final trailer has been released to give us one last preview of the film's homicidal little supervillain.
BRIGHTBURN reunites SLITHER star Elizabeth Banks with that film's director James Gunn, who served as a producer on this one with Kenneth Huang. Banks is joined in the cast by David Denman, Jackson A. Dunn, Matt Jones, Steve Agee, Becky Wahlstrom, Stephen Blackehart, and Meredith Hagner.
Scripted by Gunn's brother Brian Gunn and cousin Mark Gunn, BRIGHTBURN has the following synopsis:
A couple's prayers are seemingly answered when an object crash-lands on Earth, carrying a life-form that looks like a baby boy. As the years pass and the alien grows older, it starts to use its mysterious powers in sinister and destructive ways.
I like the "evil Superman" concept and tend to enjoy movies Gunn is involved with, so I'm interested in seeing how BRIGHTBURN is going to be.
