At one time, we were expecting Evil Dead: The Game to be available to play on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC by the end of the year, but last month Evil Dead franchise star Bruce Campbell broke the news that a February 2022 release was more likely, as the game's developers were going to do "one upgrade so they can be as bitchin' as any other game out there". Now the folks behind the game have confirmed that it's coming in February 2022 – and added that the extra time is allowing them to add a single player option to it!
From the official Evil Dead: The Game Twitter account:
Evil Dead: The Game will be releasing in February 2022
Hey groovy gamers, we're targeting a new release date to give the team some extra time for polish and to ensure this is the ultimate Evil Dead experience you’re all waiting for! This additional time is also allowing us to implement a single-player option that will let you enjoy the game when you are without your co-op compadres.
The game was announced as a co-op and PvP multiplayer game that will allow fans to
work together as a team of four survivors, exploring, looting, crafting, managing your fear, and finding key artifacts to seal the breach between worlds. Or take control of the powerful Kandarian Demon to hunt Ash and his friends while possessing Deadites, the environment, and even the survivors themselves as you seek to swallow their souls!
Plenty of surprises await in this gore-filled battle against evil that captures the characters, horror, humor, and action from the franchise. Battle across memorable locations including the infamous cabin in the woods, brought to life with tons of terrifying visuals and all-new dialogue from Bruce Campbell. Discover more than 25 weapons, including Ash’s Gauntlet, Boomstick, and chainsaw, and advance in a variety of skill trees to grow stronger and survive in this fun co-op and PvP experience.
Playable characters include Ash Williams (voice by Campbell), Ash's sister Cheryl, Scott from the original The Evil Dead, Lord Arthur from Army of Darkness, Kelly from Ash vs. Evil Dead, Pablo from Ash vs. Evil Dead, and a Kandarian demon.
The game is the result of a collaboration between Saber Interactive, Boss Team Games, Renaissance Pictures, STUDIOCANAL, MGM, and Lionsgate.
While I'm sure I'll mostly focus on online multiplayer matches when I play Evil Dead: The Game, it's always nice to have a single player option to fall back on.
