Evil Dead Rise is now in its second week of production, and not only are writer/director Lee Cronin's white shoes starting to get messed up, we've also learned the names of three more cast members! Joining the previously announced Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan are the trio of Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, and Nell Fisher. These young actors are said to be playing "siblings in peril".
Sutherland and Sullivan's characters are
two estranged sisters whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
I'm assuming the new cast additions will be the children of one of the sisters, but we can't be sure at this point. What we do know for sure is that Evil Dead Rise takes the forces of evil at the center of this franchise out of the woods and into a "modern day urban setting".
Cronin took to social media to welcome Echols, Davies, and Fisher to the production, and so did Bruce Campbell. Campbell isn't playing Evil Dead hero Ash in this project, but he is still involved behind the scenes. Campbell is executive producing the film with Sam Raimi, while Robert Tapert is the producer. Romel Adam, John Keville, and Macdara Kelleher also serve as executive producers.
Echols celebrated her casting on her Instagram account. A look at Davies' Instagram indicates that he's a perfect fit for an Evil Dead movie – not only does he have a hobby of creating his own prosthetics and gore effects, but he even posted Deadite prom pictures eleven weeks ago. Less than three months later, he's on a movie set, fighting Deadites in an official entry in the Evil Dead franchise.
Evil Dead Rise is set up at New Line Cinema and will be released through the HBO Max streaming service. A release date has not been announced.
