Jason Bateman, Superworld

THR has reported that Jason Bateman (Ozark) and Mark Perez (GAME NIGHT) will be teaming up for SUPERWORLD, an adaptation of Gus Krieger's recently released Audible audiobook.

The story takes place in 2038 in a world where every single person has superpowers, with the exception of one man by the name of Ignatius Lohman who is "stuck in a white-collar job while his father is one of the most powerful people on the planet and leader of defense organization Peerless. But Lohman will get his chance to step up when he is forced to face a corporate overlord whose power is neutralizing anyone with a superpower." SUPERWORLD has been described in the same vein as THE INCREDIBLES. Jason Bateman will direct the film for Warner Bros. with Mark Perez slated to pen the script. Sounds like it could be fun.

Jason Bateman has been heading behind the camera quite a bit lately, and he has multiple projects on his upcoming slate. In addition to Ozark, which Netflix has renewed for a fourth and final season, Bateman is also slated to helm an untitled family comedy starring John Cena for Netflix which takes place in an abandoned movie studio. He's also been in talks to helm HERE COMES THE FLOOD, a heist film penned by Simon Kinberg which is also set up at Netflix.
