Robin Hood and Maid Marion go together like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong, so it was only a matter of time before Lionsgate would cast a Maid Marian for ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS. Deadline reports that Eve Hewson (BRIDGE OF SPIES) has landed the role of Maid Marian opposite Taron Egerton's Robin Hood.
ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS follows "Robin Hood as he returns from fighting in The Crusades and finds that Sherwood Forest is rife with corruption and evil. He forms a band of outlaws and they take matters into their own hands." Sounds like every other Robin Hood film we've seen, but maybe director Otto Bathurst can find a different way to spin the story. You'll recall that the film ran into a few difficulties when Taron Egerton's option for a sequel to KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE was exercised. ROBIN HOOD: ORIGINS was originally set to begin production next February, but the lengthy production would have overlapped with the KINGSMAN sequel so Lionsgate was forced to push production back until next summer if they wanted to keep Taron Egerton on board.
You can catch Eve Hewson in Steven Spielberg's BRIDGE OF SPIES on October 16, 2015, and you can check out our own Eric Walkuski's review of BRIDGE OF SPIES right here!
