Evangeline Lilly has been making the rounds promoting her new film South of Heaven with Jason Sudeikis and that has also given her a little time to talk about Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While she is sworn to secrecy by Marvel to not reveal too many details, Lilly is taking the time to praise the film’s script.
During a chat with Collider, Lilly spoke on the film’s script that was penned by Jeff Loveness, famous for Rick and Morty, and she’s calling what he has come up with very special. Here is what she had to say:
“I think he is phenomenal. I think he’s one of the best writers we’ve ever had. I think he’s got an incredible mastery of voice. So, on the page, I could hear all the characters, and I knew that he’d really kind of harnessed each person’s unique personality. I just think that it’s going to be really special. I actually think it has the chance to be the best one we’ve done yet.”
Lilly admitted that hasn’t had time to keep up with all things Marvel, including her very own episode of What If…? but she did take the time to praise WandaVision and Loki. Here is what she had to say about WandaVision:
“I think WandaVision was phenomenal, and I think it was probably the best they’ve ever represented a female character. It was so incredible to see her be so complicated and so flawed and yet so redeemable and so lovable, the way we have typically historically treated our male characters. I think it was an epic female protagonist story.”
When speaking about Loki, Lilly said, “The science geek in me loves that element of how smart they are and how they tackle such enormous topics that most kind of fluff popcorn movies are not going to tackle. They tackled chaos theory. That’s really brave and really bold and really cool.” Isn’t it kind of cool that she geeks out just like the rest of us?
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to bring back Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lily’s Hope Van Dyne as the titular heroes while Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer are also confirmed to return as Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne. The third film has recast Cassie Long with Kathryn Newton stepping into the role and Jonathan Majors will be the latest threat as Kang the Conqueror. Directed by Peyton Reed, the film is currently shooting in London.
