Despite the rumblings that happened behind the scenes, ANT-MAN turned out to be a big success raking in $519 million worldwide and some pretty solid reviews. We will get to see Scott Lang/Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) team up with Hope Van Dyne/The Wasp in ANT-MAN AND THE WASP next year, but why wait so long for pint-sized action? If you need you Ant-Man fix all you have to do is wait till June to see animated shorts take on a whole new meaning.
EW got the scoop that the next series of animated shorts from Marvel will involve the one and only Ant-Man, as he teams up with Wasp and Hank Pym to save the day…and do homework with his daughter. The shorts will air across June 10 and June 11 on Disney XD, and each one will be two minutes, and were directed by Ugo Bienvenu and Kevin Manach, written by Brian Wysol, and executive-produced by Alan Fine, Dan Buckley, Joe Quesada, Cort Lane, Stephen Wacker, and Stan Lee.
There are also some images, which show of a very old-school animated style for you comic fans out there:
The first short, “Science Fair,” will air on Saturday, June 10 at 7:58 a.m. ET, with another two, “Alien Invasion” and “Soup Time”, following at 11:58 a.m. and 2:58 p.m. The final shorts, “Exterminator," "Proton Cube,” and “Not a Date”, will air June 11 at 11:28 a.m., 5:28 p.m., and 8:58 p.m.
ANT-MAN really stands out in the MCU, mostly because the focus on Scott makes it more personal (and funny), while the action scenes are the most unique of any in the whole franchise. The character of Lang and the abilities he has making for visually extraordinary set pieces are gonna make for a great round of animated shorts, if not also because him being Ant-Man makes doing "shorts" an opportunity too sweet to pass up.
