It’s hard to believe but Eva Mendes hasn’t appeared in a film since her supporting role in her partner Ryan Gosling’s 2014 directorial effort Lost River and her last starring role was in the 2012 drama Girl in Progress. That same year she had supporting roles in critical darlings like The Place Beyond the Pines and Holy Motors but the actress made the decision to step away from acting to be present and take care of her family. Is there a road back to acting for Mendes? The actress took the time to answer that question during a recent appearance on The View.
When asked by The View co-host Sunny Hostin if she would end her acting hiatus if a “special project” came along she said “I hope so” but it would take some requirements. Mendes said, “I have such a short list of what I will do, with four kids. I mean, if it was a fun project. But now I won’t do violence, I don’t want to do sexuality, the list is short.”
Social media seems to think Eva Mendes could make a return to the Fast Franchise since production is underway on the final two installments. Mendes played Monica Fuentes in 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious and she reprised the role for an uncredited cameo appearance in 2011’s Fast Five. No announcement has been made about a potential return but she is one of the characters from the franchise that some consider is long overdue for a reappearance.
Eva Mendes has still been busy since taking a break from acting. She still has various fashion and beauty endeavors and, as she has put it, her most important job is being a more to her two daughters with actor Ryan Gosling. That being said, actresses like Cameron Diaz seem determined to maintain their retirement from taking acting roles but it appears Mendes is up for it if the right part came along.
