A MAGNIFICENT SEVEN remake has been kicking around for a while now, and while Tom Cruise was at one point attached to star, it looks like director Antoine Fuqua (THE EQUALIZER, OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN) is having no issues assembling a top-notch cast. First it was announced that he would be re-teaming with EQUALIZER star Denzel Washington, and then word came that Chris Pratt was coming aboard. Looks as though we can add another big name to that list as recent Acadey Award nominee Ethan Hawke (BOYHOOD) is going to saddle up with his TRAINING DAY director and co-star for THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN.
The original film followed that of seven gunmen in the old west who gradually come together to help a poor village against savage thieves. It's unknown how close this remake will follow the original's plot, but with Nick Pizzolatto (True Detective) being one of the script's contributors, this is quickly becoming one of my most anticipated films of 2016. We'll be sure to let you know who else will be riding once it's announced!
THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN will be released sometime in 2016.
