For those of you still hoping onto the Internet and Social Media during this fine Thanksgiving afternoon, we've got a nice little treat for you via Universal and XFinity/Sky, which reunites one of the most beloved characters ever put on the bigscreen, E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL, with his human soul mate, Elliot, once again played by a Henry Thomas, now all grown up and with a family of his own. Fans of the film series will surely love this little reunion, which answers what happened to our old Reece's Pieces-loving alien and his human pal since he phoned home and took off back to the stars. If anything, this sweet little video makes me want a Spielberg-directed sequel, even if there's no way it could live up to the original. I'm sure many would be torn over such an idea, but I'm certainly open to it. With cute aliens ruling the trending bar (see: Baby Yoda), why not bring the o.g. back for another round and introduce him to a new generation?
“The audience is going to get everything they want out of a sequel without the messy bits that could destroy the beauty of the original and the special place it has in people’s minds and hearts. It’s really a win-win," said Thomas of being involved in this "sequel".
Either way, you can always revisit Steven Spielberg's 1982 classic and now, if you want to scratch the itch of what happened after, you have this.
Happy Thanksgiving. Be gooooood.
