As it's based on the comic-series created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, it should come as no surprise that The Boys is full of sex, violence, and over the top gore, but there was one scene which Amazon objected to. While speaking in a recent Reddit AMA, The Boys creator Eric Kripke described the scene which Amazon made him leave on the cutting room floor.
There was ONE SCENE that Amazon said FUCK NO, you have to cut. I couldn't quite understand why considering everything else we have in the show, but: Homelander, after being dressed down by Stilwell in episode 2, was standing on one of the Chrysler building Eagles. He pulled his pants down and started jerking off, mumbling "I can do whatever I want" over and over again until he climaxed all over New York City. We shot it! Oh my God, Anthony was the BEST in that scene. Amazon seemed to think it wasn't necessary. I thought it told me something about his psyche. To be clear, they've been great, that may have been the ONLY fight I lost in Season 1.
Considering everything Amazon did allow Eric Kripke to do, that must have been quite the scene. Kripke answered other questions about the series, including where it's headed in the second season. "The Boys are on the run, wanted by the law. Homeland is ascendent, now that Stillwell isn't there to control him," Kripke said. "A new hero joins the Seven — Stormfront played by Aya Cash. We're trying not to go bigger — but to go deeper. More intense. We study each character, put them under pressure, take away the thing that's most important to them. Chaos ensues." Kripke also said that they're in the middle of shooting episode 3 (of 8) right now and that he's breaking the finale for the second season. He also said that Terror, Billy Butcher's dog, will be making a big appearance in the second season after only showing up in a flashback in the first. "I really sadly had to make the choice to not play Terror — cause with everything else we have going on with this show, shooting with dogs is JUST TOO FUCKING HARD," Kripke explained. "But I can spoil — we bring Terror back for one episode in Season 2, where he has a starring role. He's too important a character to the world — and to Butcher — not to explore."
The Boys takes place in an America where the planet's superheroes have been morally corrupted by their celebrity status and often take advantage of their powers in reckless displays of behavior which threaten the safety of the world. Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) runs a group of vigilantes known as The Boys, who do what they can to keep watch over the superheroes, and, if need be, eliminate them.
