In September, we reported SINISTER director Scott Derrickson had signed a deal to write and direct the paranormal police procedural BEWARE THE NIGHT. Now, it seems the deal is moving forward at ScreenGems with DEADFALL star Eric Bana in talks to take the lead.
Bana would play a New York police officer investigating real life demon possessions, exorcisms and werewolves. Mark Wahlberg was previously attached to the role but has since passed on the project.
Derrickson wrote BEWARE THE NIGHT with Paul Boardman. The two previously collaborated on the West Memphis Three Biopic DEVIL’S KNOT, which was recently lensed by Atom Egoyan and is in post production. Derrickson also recently attached himself to direct the feature film version of Stephen King’s novella THE BREATHING METHOD.
Congrats to SINISTER director, who seems to be riding pretty high following the success of that film. If Bana commits, BEWARE THE NIGHT could be another exceptional notch on his (horror movie) belt. What do you guys think? Are you down to see the badass Bana take on some some paranormal criminals? Talk back with your thoughts below…
