Eragon author urges fans to let Disney know they want a remake

Eragon, remake, Disney

Christopher Paolini wrote Eragon when he was just a teenager, but the fantasy novel later exploded in popularity and became a best-seller. Naturally, Hollywood came calling and 20th Century Fox acquired the rights to the novel, but unfortunately, the resulting adaptation was met with scathing reviews. Although Paolini wrote several more installments of what became known as The Inheritance Cycle, the failure of the first film spelled doom for any potential sequels.

Now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox, Eragon fans banded together over the weekend to push Disney to develop a proper adaptation of the fantasy novels, and Christopher Paolini made sure to voice his support as well.

It didn't take before the hashtag started trending, which could be a big help in getting Disney to notice that the desire for such an adaptation definitely exists. The novels take place in the fictional world of Alagaësia and follow the adventures of a teenage boy named Eragon and his dragon, Saphira, as they struggle to overthrow the evil king Galbatorix.

Should Eragon actually get remade somewhere down the line, it wouldn't be the first fantasy series that Disney has given a second chance to. A series adaptation of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson franchise is in the works for Disney+, which will revamp the series after the mixed reception of the two movies released by Fox, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

Any Eragon fans out there who would welcome a new adaptation of the novels?
