Episode titles, trailers, synopsis revealed for Black Mirror season five

Last week we got the first glimpse at the new season of BLACK MIRROR and three new mind-bending stories that will make it up. There’s always an air of mystery around each new episode but now a very, very small portion of the veil has been lifted as the first synopsis and titles for the three shorts have been revealed.

Okay, so they aren’t the most detailed of synopsis. In fact, they’re only about one sentence each, which is quite frankly the best we can hope for here. Along with each synopsis are a slew of new images that feature the impressive cast that will make up this fifth season. I don’t know what that pink-haired robot is, but I do know it’s more terrifying to look at than the new Chucky doll.

The trailers are short enough to not give too much away, but while the first trailer combined all these stories into one mini supercut we now have more context as to which story is which and who factors into them. Each one looks very different from the others, like the grounded style of SMITHEREENS or the more high-concept take of RACHEL, JACK AND ASHLEY, TOO. STRIKING VIPERS looks to have a video game angle, perhaps something akin to U.S.S. CALLISTER from last season, which is my favorite episode. That in mind VIPERS will be the first I check out (not to mention it also stars two Avengers), but all three look like worthy additions to the impressive canon.

BLACK MIRROR season five hits Netflix on June 5.
