This should come as no surprise since it gained instant popularity on Netflix after its premiere but the streamer has given the official green light for a sequel to Enola Holmes, with Millie Bobby Brown & Henry Cavill set to return.
Harry Bradbeer is returning to direct the film and Jack Thorne, who penned the first, will write the script for the sequel. Millie Bobby Brown had this to say about returning:
"I can’t wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! Enola holds a special place in my heart – she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!"
The film is based on Nancy Springer’s Edgar Award-nominated book series, "The Enola Holmes Mysteries" which is comprised of six books in total. The story follows the story of Sherlock Holmes’ rebellious teen sister Enola, a gifted super-sleuth in her own right who often outsmarts her famous siblings. Cavill plays Sherlock Holmes in the film.
Enola Holmes was one of the first big films acquired during the early part of the pandemic, with Netflix landing worldwide rights, minus China, in the spring. When it premiered in September of 2020, an estimated 76 million households watched Enola Holmes in the first 28 days of its release. Production on the sequel could take place by the end of the year if everything goes according to plan.
