A couple months ago, we heard that Oscar-winning filmmaker Alexander Payne would be directing a horror comedy called THE MENU, with Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Betsy Koch producing the project through Gary Sanchez Productions. With THE MENU moving forward, Payne has now found two of its stars: Ralph Fiennes and Emma Stone.
Written by Will Tracy and Seth Reiss, THE MENU isĀ
set in the world of high-end culinary culture. The story centers on a young couple who visits an exclusive destination restaurant on a remote island where the acclaimed chef has prepared a lavish tasting menu, along with some shocking surprises.
Fiennes is taking on the role of the "globally-celebrated chef" who has developed this "eccentric culinary event" and "has added a few secret, and potentially nefarious, ingredients to his extravagant menu." We're guessing that some of this chef's meals include human meat as part of the recipe.
Stone is believed to be playing one half of an A-list couple who attend the event.
I was already on board to watch an Alexander Payne movie about a presumably cannibalistic chef, and the addition of Fiennes and Stone to the cast makes me even more excited to see how this is going to turn out.
