Emily Blunt, fear, and murder in The Girl on the Train trailer

Having made the drama THE HELP and the James Brown biopic GET ON UP, director Tate Taylor has now ventured into psychological thriller territory with THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN, and the newly released trailer, embedded below, indicates that Taylor has made a flawless transition into this genre. There's definitely a bit of a David Fincher feel to this story of missing women, murder, and mental issues.

Scripted by Erin Cressida Wilson from the novel by Paula Hawkins, THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN stars Emily Blunt as

Rachel, who is devastated by her recent divorce. She spends her daily commute fantasizing about the seemingly perfect couple who live in a house that her train passes every day, until one morning she sees something shocking happen there and becomes entangled in the mystery that unfolds.

The film also stars Haley Bennett, Luke Evans, Rebecca Ferguson, Edgar Ramírez, Allison Janney, Laura Prepon, Lisa Kudrow, and Justin Theroux.

THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN is set to reach theatres on October 7th, and even though it's not exactly a horror movie it does look like it will still be perfect viewing for the month that builds up to Halloween.
