Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke, coffeegate

Unless you've wiped the final season from your memory, you might recall that one of the many controversies which arose during Game of Thrones' eighth and final season was the coffeegate fiasco. During the fourth episode of the season, The Last of the Starks, a feast was held at Winterfell following the victory over the Army of the Dead, and in one shot, a coffee cup can be seen sitting on the table next to Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke). Uh oh.

No one was willing to admit they were the culprit behind the slip, but Sophie Turner had previously laid the blame at the feet of either Kit Harington or Emilia Clarke, but while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Clarke revealed that true identity of the coffee cup bandit.

Here’s the truth. We had like a party before the Emmys recently, and Conleth [Hill], who plays Varys, who’s sitting next to me in that scene, he pulls me aside and he’s like, ‘Emilia, I’ve got to tell you something. I’ve got to tell you something, love. The coffee cup was mine!’ It was his! It was Conleth’s coffee cup. He said so. He’s like, ‘I think so, I’m sorry darling, I didn’t want to say anything because it seemed [like] the heat was very much on you.' And I was like, ‘What?!’

There you have it, the Master of Whisperers is to blame. Emilia Clarke then said, "he might have been drunk, but he said it." We can finally move forward as a nation and leave this unfortunate incident behind us. It's time to live again.
