Elrond himself Hugo Weaving joins the Peter Jackson-produced Mortal Engines

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Man, I'm super excited for the upcoming fantasy epic MORTAL ENGINES. I love me some Peter Jackson (even if I didn't completely enjoy THE HOBBIT films as a whole, I still found things to love within them), so I can't wait to see what he's cooking up with his newest film. And while Jackson is only producing, and not directing, I still think that's cause for celebration. Remember, he produced DISTRICT 9.

What makes it even more cool is Elrond himself, Hugo Weaving, has been cast in the film in an unspecified role. He'll be joining the previously cast Hera Hilmar, Robbie Sheehan, Ronan Rafterty, and Stephen Lang. That's pretty cool.

And here's the synopsis, according to Variety:

Set thousands of years in the future, Earth’s cities now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle over diminishing resources. On one of these massive Traction Cities, Tom Natsworthy has an unexpected encounter with a mysterious young woman from the Outlands, who will change the course of his life forever.

Either way, MORTAL ENGINES – directed by first-timer Christian Rivers – is set to move into theaters December 14th, 2018.
