Elizabeth Mitchell to return as Mrs. Claus for The Santa Clause Disney+ series

It was announced earlier this month that Tim Allen would be reprising his role of Scott Calvin for a Santa Clause series on Disney+. Allen won’t be the only actor from the movie franchise returning for the Santa Clause series as Deadline has reported that Elizabeth Mitchell will also be heading back to the North Pole.

Elizabeth Mitchell first appeared in The Santa Clause 2 as Carol. The sequel found Tim Allen’s character having to find a Mrs. Claus, which wound up being Carol. Elizabeth Mitchell returned for The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause and will be back for the Disney+ series as well. The series will find Scott Calvin “on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can’t be Santa forever. He’s starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he’s got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole.” The Santa Clause series is being developed by Jack Burditt, who created Tim Allen’s Last Man Standing series, and he will also serve as showrunner.

In addition to The Santa Clause, Elizabeth Mitchell is best known for her roles on Lost, Once Upon a Time, and Revolution. She also had a recurring role in Netflix’s Outer Banks as well as CBS’ FBI: International. Mitchell is also set to star in Netflix’s adaptation of Victoria “V. E.” Schwab’s short story First Kill. The series revolves around a teenage vampire who must make her first kill so that she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, but when she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope, she is surprised to discover that Calliope is a vampire hunter from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won’t be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for.
