Production on the fourth season of The Handmaid's Tale was shut down earlier this year after only two weeks of shooting, but nonetheless, a new trailer has dropped for the Hulu series which thrusts us back into the story of June (Elisabeth Moss) and her rebellion against the totalitarian regime of Gilead. The third season came to a close with June having scored a major victory by helping many young girls escape Gilead, but suffering from a gunshot wound in the process; however, as June mentions in the trailer, she "can't rest" as "this war isn't going to win itself."
As far as when production on the fourth season of The Handmaid's Tale will resume, Elisabeth Moss (who is also a producer on the series) recently told Collider that they've been having plenty of conversations about when they can safely resume work. "We have a production call, every week, and we have a producer call, every week," Moss explained. "There have been a lot of emails, a lot of Zooms, and a lot of conversations. One of the great things that our line producer has done is basically gone to every single department and talked to them, and picked their brain and tried to figure out what their daily process is, and what they’re looking for and what they need, in order to feel safe, which I think is a really important part of it." Moss added that the producers have also been contributing to a fund for the crew out of their own pockets which has helped to support them throughout the shutdown.
The fourth season of The Handmaid's Tale will debut on Hulu in 2021.
