When it comes to BLADE RUNNER 2049, the big question is how exactly Harrison Ford has returned as the supposed replicant, Rick Deckard. We'll have to wait until the film is released before we find out that answer, but in the meantime we do have news about another character that is returning from the original film. In a recent interview with The TREND Talk Show, Edward James Olmos finally opened up about BLADE RUNNER 2049 and confirmed that his character from the first film, Gaff, will be making a brief appearance! Check it out!
Edward James Olmos on reprising Gaff in BLADE RUNNER 2049:
I signed a seven page non-disclosure contract. I did, my manager did, my agent did, everybody did. I couldn’t talk about it. I couldn’t talk about it to anybody about it. Guess what? This is the first time that I’m telling the whole world, that yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.
Regarding his scene:
Well, it’s not about Gaff, but it’s about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then. My role is like it was in the original – that time I only had four scenes, in this I only have one. But again, it’s a poignant little scene.
While it may seem like a bit of a bummer that he's only returning for one scene, it's not like Gaff had any sizable screentime the first time around. In any case, Olmos is a phenomenal actor and is certain to lend a lot of weight to whatever scene he's in. I'm guessing he'll share it with Ryan Gosling, but we'll have to wait another 7 months to know for sure!
BLADE RUNNER 2049 will open in theaters on October 6, 2017.
