Edgar Wright to direct ghost story Stage 13

Damn, Edgar Wright! The director certainly hasn't been laying idle during the COVID-19 pandemic as he's been snapping up projects left and right. Deadline has reported that Wright has closed a deal to develop, direct, and executive produce STAGE 13, a ghost story penning by Simon Rich.

Based on the short story of the same name written by Simon Rich, STAGE 13 follows a struggling film director who has been hired by a studio executive to direct a fake movie in order to appease the ghost of a silent film star who has haunted the sound stage for decades. However, when the director meets the ghost, they discover they share an unexpected kinship and team up in order to make their mark on the world. Sounds like fun! As far as Edgar Wright's other projects goes, it was announced earlier this year that he's slated to direct SET MY HEART TO FIVE, an adaptation of a novel by Simon Stephenson. The story is set in "an all-too human 2054," and follows a human-like robot named Jared who experiences an emotional awakening after an introduction to the movies of the '80s and '90s movies. Wright is also slated to direct an adaptation of Adrian McKinty's best-selling novel, "The Chain." The story deals with a mother whose 11-year-old daughter has been kidnapped, but in order to get her back, she's told that she must kidnap another child and that her daughter will only be released when the next victim's parents kidnap another yet child.

Wright's next film is LAST NIGHT IN SOHO, a psychological thriller set in London which Wright says has been influenced by both Nicolas Roeg's DON'T LOOK NOW and Roman Polanski's REPULSION. The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy (THE NEW MUTANTS), Thomasin McKenzie (JOJO RABBIT), Matt Smith (The Crown), Michael Ajao (ATTACK THE BLOCK), Synnøve Karlsen (Medici), Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones), Terence Stamp (MURDER MYSTERY), and Rita Tushingham (BEING JULIA). The film is set to hit theaters on April 23, 2021.
