Confession time: I've never seen WESTWORLD. It's just one of those older movies I haven't had a chance to see yet, but I'll definitely check it out before watching HBO's remake of the 1973 movie. Like the film, the upcoming series will be based on the Michael Crichton novel, and while it already has a fantastic cast, it's being reported two more actors have joined the project.
THR has learned Ed Harris will play The Man in Black, the main villain in HBO's new series, and his character has been described as "the distillation of pure villainy into one man." The Wrap is also reporting Ptolemy Slocum (Looking, Veep, The Wire) has been cast as Sylvester, however there aren't any details on his character.
Ed Harris and Ptolemy Slocum will star alongside Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Jeffrey Wright, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolso Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, Simon Quarterman, and Kyle Bornheimer in WESTWORLD, and Jonathan Nolan will direct the pilot from a script he wrote with Lisa Joy. Nolan is also executive producing the series with J.J. Abrams.
WESTWORLD has the potential to be an awesome series, and I can't wait to see robots running amok on HBO in the near future.
